This beautiful face is that of my friend Liam. He’s an incredible human being with a deep love for animals and the people in his life. I haven’t been able to spend time with him recently, since we live thousands of miles apart, but we keep in touch. I haven’t heard from him in a while and just found out why.
Liam was arrested in felony charges for stealing a handgun he intended to use to take his life. I know liam has been dealing with many demons over the years and I guess it all came to a head. I’m thankful to say that the arrest prevent his attempt to take his life from coming to fruition, but he’s spent the last month in prison dealing with transphobic guards who have regularly verbally assaulted him, along with the stigma he faces for being HIV+. These aren’t ideal situations for any human, let alone one already in a fragile state.
He’ll be released at the end of this month, but faces $10,000 in fines. That kind of debt is crippling. A call has gone out to help him raise the fine money so that he can get his life together and get the help he needs.
