i’m afraid i’m going to have to be that guy that has to disagree with the readings and differentiate between black church services being sexual and seeing black bodies as inherently sexual no matter what they are doing
still afraid to be the guy explaining language is for the people, language policing is racist if not also classist or ableist and black dialects are valid so the fact that the author chose to “(sic)” someone when quoting them in such a dialect is proof that he has bought into white supremacy and thus his analysis should not be seriously considered (and further proves that he is seeing black bodies in a colonized manner, sexualizing them in irrelevant settings). unfortunately i don’t think my classmates are ready to go there yet.
