Deporting young brown women back to Guatemala is throwing them to the wolves. The fact that there is a new merit based system where some would be allowed to stay is such bullshit. If I had to go through that based off of high school, I would have been sent to Guatemala. Allowing the same system that failed them, a system of education that demeans their personhood, be the final measurement of whether they can stay or not is a betrayal… To say the least.
